Alex Jacquet's profile

Stanford Angels and Entrepreneurs

As the Chief Operating Officer and head of product at Smiletime, Inc, Alexandre Jacquet oversees the company’s creation of a mobile live streaming app with interactive elements. To assist local small business owners, Alexandre Jacquet founded the Los Angeles, California chapter of the nonprofit Stanford Angels & Entrepreneurs (SA&E).

SA&E provides a forum where Stanford students, alumni, and affiliates may either pitch or invest startup ideas. However, the board may allow certain non-affiliated investors or entrepreneurs to join, if the individual shares the organization’s goals. In operation since 2010, it has funded over 20 companies as of 2022. It focuses primarily on startups creating novel hardware or software.

SA&E funds companies who have raised less than $2 million, and or ones that have already received funding from an investor knowledgeable in the product’s target industry. After submitting a preliminary meeting request via email, an entrepreneur completes over-the-phone, virtual, or in-person meetings to discuss their idea. If at least two of SA&E’s investors agree to fund it, and the entrepreneur gives their consent, their startup will appear publicly on SA&E’s portfolio page.
